Trio.

I’m not obsessive about order, but I do kind of wish I’d thought to make sure the cabinet doors were perfectly closed. Oh, well.

Still, I like the lines! Getting rid of as much of the lens distortion as possible was a bear.

Beyond this door the mystery meat lies.

While awaiting a late-night delivery of vanilla shake goodness, I was struck by the contrasted colors, textures and lines at this McDonald’s in Alexandria, Minnesota.

Exit only, please!

Casper McFadden, the friendly, hair-free ghost.

I’ve got a couple shots tonight from a barbershop storefront in downtown Bellingham that I shot back when I used to work in the area.

Jes’ Barbershop is old-school and looks like a great gentlemen’s hangout, though I’ve never set foot in the place. His windows are festooned with awesome toys and figurines that my kids would die to liberate.

Casper, here, doesn’t seem to be in need of either a shave or a trim. That’s probably why he’s flying around so care-free!

Put a Fork in Me, I’m done!

Jennifer recommended I get breakfast at Dutch Mothers restaurant up in Lynden, so I finally got to pop in for a late breakfast a little while back.

I can now verify from personal experience that if you are ever in the far Pacific Northwest and are in need of copious amounts of comfort food: Dutch Mothers Family Restaurant is where it’s at! Do try the Pannekoeken. It’s a pancake meal bigger than your head.

Impressionable.

This is a closeup detail from a piece of artwork at last year’s ArtWalk in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I don’t even remember what the original piece looked like—I was just so taken with the intricate textures that I had to get closer.

I was tempted to go strictly black-and-white on this, but when I desaturated the image, it lost “something,” I don’t know what. Some sense of depth.

I can get lost in this.

Rockin’ the Old School Whiteout.

I recently had my workspace moved to a new location at Logos Bible Software. I now pass through a supply closet to access the stairs leading to the marketing communications group. This daily passage affords me an opportunity to examine the various office supplies we’ve stocked up for my 300+ coworkers.

A couple days ago I stopped for a double-take—it had suddenly dawned on me: we have whiteout.

*LOL, whut?*

Logos Is a largely paper-free *software* company. Our work is performed on computers creating stuff for other computers. We don’t *do* typewriters. We hardly do pen-and-paper. Why on earth do we stock whiteout?

I dunno… but this little bit oughta last us, oh, another century or so.

Simple Ocular Clarity.

“Beholding beauty with the eye of the mind, he will be enabled to bring forth, not images of beauty, but realities (for he has hold not of an image but of a reality), and bringing forth and nourishing true virtue to become the friend of God and be immortal, if mortal man may.” —Plato.

Censored.

Took a walk yesterday during lunch; there’s this spot on the wall in the alley behind my workplace that has an inexplicable white square spray-painted on it. Every time I walked past, I’d see it and wonder, what’s that about?

Upon closer examination, my suspicion that some tag had been painted over appeared correct—though exactly how *this* is better than the obfuscated tag is unclear. 🙂

Auto Obscura.

Took this on my drive in to work last week, holding my iPhone outside my window, driving far more slowly than normal.

I’m driving in clouds!
