Fireleaves!*

No sky… just fog for days and days and days.

Seriously—it doesn’t *have* to rain in the Pacific Northwest when the water hangs so thick in the air that you can taste it.

Jes’s Barbershop Glow

Businesses somehow look more inviting when the sharp edges of commerce are softened by fog.

Actually, if I had much hair, I’d likely give this shop my custom.

Holding Pattern

The fog has been thick over Bellingham lately—it makes it harder to see things far away, but closeups of concrete structures still do just fine!

Auto Obscura.

Took this on my drive in to work last week, holding my iPhone outside my window, driving far more slowly than normal.

I’m driving in clouds!

Bounded.

Sometimes the mist here in Washington is nearly palpable, limiting visibility to just a few yards. If I hold my hand out and look closely, I can see the particles of water swirling in the eddies of air around my fingers.

At night, it sounds like it’s raining because the moisture condenses and drips off the leaves of nearby trees, but the raindrops never fall from the sky. It’s eerie to a guy who spent his formative years in a semi-arid desert.

This, here, is a detail from a panoramic picture taken from my deck.

Backyard Shroud.

It’s been real “froggy” up here in the Pacific Northwest, up by Lynden, Washington, of late. This is my first Fall season in Washington, so I’m assuming this is normal; the locals aren’t being real exclamatory, anyhow.

While it may be normal for this moist, coastal clime, it’s certainly not normal for this desert rat raised in New Mexico.

This, here, is a panoramic view from my deck.
