Pi, trouble, and other stuff at Shari’s

We’re giving mom a night at home alone for Mother’s Day. I’m sure she’s missing us already!

AJ reports, here, that he was thinking about the irrational number, pi. Not the tangible yummy pies they serve here at Shari’s. No wonder it’s an irrational number!

Sunset over Lynden — sepia version.

It’s always a good day when I have to pull over to the side of the road in order to capture a beautiful sunset. As long as I’m not rear-ended by other distracted motorists, that is.

Albert Einstein’s general theory of fashion adaptivity.

“Long hair minimizes the need for barbers; socks can be done without; one leather jacket solves the coat problem for many years; suspenders are superfluous.” — Einstein.

Another shot from the Jes’ Barbershop storefront in downtown Bellingham taken back when I used to work in the area.

Casper McFadden, the friendly, hair-free ghost.

I’ve got a couple shots tonight from a barbershop storefront in downtown Bellingham that I shot back when I used to work in the area.

Jes’ Barbershop is old-school and looks like a great gentlemen’s hangout, though I’ve never set foot in the place. His windows are festooned with awesome toys and figurines that my kids would die to liberate.

Casper, here, doesn’t seem to be in need of either a shave or a trim. That’s probably why he’s flying around so care-free!

Joe with Joe.

I met yesterday with a friend and former Logos coworker over a cuppa joe at the Woods Coffee in Bellingham’s historic Flatiron building. Well, *I* had the joe. Joe had some suspiciously yellow concoction that spelled “sugar coma” in his future. On tap for conversation were several topics, but at one point photography came up.

Joe confided that getting a good portrait he was happy with was difficult because he always tended to tense up. Naturally I took this as a challenge. Whipping out my iPhone, I framed him and, holding the camera just below his eyeline, I maintained eye-contact and kept our conversation going—snapping photos all the while.

I’m can’t claim this is the best portrait Joe will ever get, but it’s the best I could give him yesterday!

On the other hand, maybe we’re not all that serious!

This is the Marketing Communications team I work with at Logos Bible Software (#LegitMarCom), led by Jayson Bradley. We wanted to shoot an "awkward family photo," for Christmas—after a couple tries, I think we succeeded.

Or at least *I* did! 🙂

Featured from left to right: Taylor Blomquist, Chuck McKnight, Jarrid Wilson, Jayson Bradley, Pam Bauthues, David Davidson, me, Elizabeth Russell, Sherri Huleatt, and Tayler Beede.

Like the previous shot, this photo was taken by the fabulous Molly Heiser, with apologies to Molly — the ruinous edits are mine.

Halloween Sunset.

On my way home to take the kiddos trick-or-treating, I spied a lovely sunset. So I scurried to the top of the parking garage to capture the least spooky thing I’d seen all day!
